I am currently working on my semester project, therefore I have been a bit quite on the blog front.
So far I have delivered a product description about my client, logo design, which products I am going to design, justification and challenges with the design.
I have also delivered a work schedule for my semester project, which I am so far working well with. Both of them got approved and then I started my research process.
I’ve created a «brief» for the design job, to make the project easier to work with. After having a chat with the client I formed a brief to work from.
BRIEF
The client want a simple, timeless and effective logo for his sole proprietorship. The logo should go well with the business name.
The client is Vidar Holtung Montasje and he offers fine carpentry and kitchen assembly. He collaborates with Huseby Kjøkken and have a lot of experience with their products.
MOODBOARD

This is the moodboard I have created for this project. It contains inspirational images, Huseby kitchen, typography that I want to incorporate in the design and a colour palette that I made with Adobe Color.
So far I have been doing research on different logos for carpentry, fine carpentry and handy man titles. I have found a lot of material to work with. I have also sketched out a lot of my ideas, which has led me to some design options that I am currently working on in Illustrator and Procreate.

Some of the logo’s that inspired me during this process:

I really like the «Line art logos» and their simplicity. They communicate so much with so little and I percieve them as modern and timeless.
I wanted to incorporate that in some way with this logo design, however making sure I am communicating clearly with the logo.
Some of my sketches:

I then started to try out my ideas in Illustrator and Procreate:

All this generated some ideas that I am currently working on, refining two of my best options so far:

This is how far I have come with my semester project, I am also writing a comprehensive report along the way to keep track of every design decision I make.
