MA01 part 4 – Thumbnail sketches of the layout

I have been sketching and trying to work out the layout for my booklet design.

I had these things in mind while sketching:

  • How many pages the booklet should be. The pages have to be divisible by four. I have 12 pages, and 14 when I include the cover and the back of the booklet. 12 devided by four is 3.
  • Pace of the layout, and how to keep the viewer interested. I have tried to create a engaging and energetic pace of the layout, with a system to guide the viewer and also surprises that make it more interesting.
  • Keeping hierarchy in mind when thinking about headings, sub- headings and content text. I have tried to apply hierarchy in every page to guid the viewer.
  • Think about type of grid system I am going to work with while developing the booklet. I have chosen a grid system and had that in mind while sketching the layout. I will use the grids and margins to my guidance.
  • Keep in mind that I need to guide the viewer and that the same type of information need to look the same. However, have in mind that the overall layout should not be repetetiv and dull. I have tried to entertain the viewer with some strategies that will be more noticeable when the booklet is done. The layout is somewhat repetetiv when it comes to the same information, however only there. Other information comes in other formats and have variations.
