I have been working on this brief for several weeks, and used the two last weeks to finalize the book cover and my comprehensive report.
The brief stated that a new book cover for «The Seven Dials Mystery» by Agatha Christie, should be made with a minimum number of colours, include the number 7 and have Gestalt principles in the design.
The brief also stated that the design should not include any of the characters from the book and it should be a simple and conseptual design.
The author and the book title need to be on the cover design and the number 7 should be the focal point. The design should give a feeling of «murder mystery»
During this process I have been through other briefs for MA’s that I have created as part of this big assignment. Some key parts of that where my Gestalt principle consepts (MA01) , Sketches (MA02) and Moodboard (MA03).
These were all part of the process in developing this book cover design, they were also included in my comprehensive report about my work process.
It has been a real struggle, and it looks much easier than it is. There are tremendous amount of work behind a minimalistic and modern book cover, even though it doesn’t look like it – believe me, it is!
Some pages from my report about the DEVELOPMENT AND DESIGN

These are just a few pages from the whole report, I tried to explain my choices and work process while linking it up to what I have learned the last two months.
This is my final product and my very first BOOK COVER DESIGN

Now I have a weekend off before starting up with Strategic Design1 on monday! 🤓
Best regards, CDH
