The project I’m working on now are really interesting and I found out that using the time to think and make a mind map helps a lot in the early stages of the process.
I went outside with my son and he was swimming in the nearby lake, while I was working with just a pencil and a white paper.
“Inspiration from nature”
My interpretation and metaphor to illustrate Moodle, our learning platform came to me while I was sitting in the gras. Nature got in to my thinking process and leaved a mark, and you will see how later on.
I have been using my time looking around in the Moodle platform to figure it out. The feelings I had while searching and learning where everything from confused, frustrated, enlighten and relieved. I quickly saw how everyone helped each other in the forum and also how nothing is impossible, everything you need to know is there somewhere – in the jungle. After working with this project for some days now I have already learned a lot about the platform and feel a lot more comfortable with finding the information I need. This experience with the platform forms my metaphor and illustration.
So, I want to share my process and how I work. Im not done jet, but I will post along the way.
Im creating a confusing digital forest, where I as a Moooodle-cow are walking down the path to learn and evolve. The trees have buttons from the Moodle platform with information, and the cow tries to find her way in the digital forest/ jungle of information. She experience however that the forest is full of animals happy to help, which represent classmates and teachers answering in forum. I want to create an illustration you want to look at for some time, finding all the details.
Some of the challenging parts of my illustration is to make the perspective and also follow that thru all the way. I used a long time to get it right.
“Perspective”
My illustration are made by pencil on thin sketch paper, and I plan to add colors carefully. That’s a scary part after using such long time on the sketch part, but I also love the thrill of it.

I also post process pictures on my instagram: @cdhgraphicdesign
I will keep updating with progress pictures and notes.
